What is lymphatic drainage massage?
Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle, rhythmic massage that helps guide excess fluid (lymph) toward your main lymph nodes so you can feel less swollen and tight post surgery, find relief from puffiness and inflammation, and boost your immune system.
The lymphatic system doesn’t have an automatic pump like the heart, so stagnant lymph requires manual movement. Your lymphatic system depends on this movement to keep your blood clean and you healthy!
At A New You, our lymph specialists are trained in the Vodder Method, which is considered the gold standard for lymphatic drainage and is incredibly effective.
Who is lymphatic drainage massage for?
Lymphatic Drainage Massage can be really helpful if:
You’re recovering from surgery (cosmetic like tummy tucks, lipo, breast cancer surgeries, etc), and have your surgeon's approval
You are managing lymphedema
You’re dealing with swelling or fluid retention, especially after an injury
You’re dealing with puffiness in your face and neck, and feel a bit sluggish
You’d like a slow, deeply relaxing massage without deep pressure
What are the benefits of lymphatic drainage massage?
The main benefits are reduced swelling, less puffiness and a boosted immune system.
Reduced appearance of cellulite, toning of the face & neck, and deep relaxation are bonuses!
Less swelling and fluid retention
Support managing lymphedema
A less puffy face and neck.
Support while you heal after surgery
Deep relaxation
Do you offer post-op lymphatic drainage massage in Boise?
Yes, we specialize in post-op lymphatic drainage massage– because recovering from surgery is enough without that swollen, tight feeling.
Surgery disrupts your natural lymphatic channels and causes fluid (edema) to collect in the tissues, so we help to ease that pressure, so you can move easier, heal faster, and feel more comfortable.
And if you have lymphedema, manual lymphatic movement using the Vodder method helps to bypass those missing or damaged lymphatic points, so your lymph system (and you!) can stay flowing and healthy!
Please note: This type of massage works alongside your surgeon's care and your compression garment, never in place of them.
What should I expect during my session?
Expect a slow, gentle, deeply calming session. There is no deep pressure and nothing to brace against. Your therapist uses light, rhythmic strokes to encourage lymph flow, and most people drift into that heavy-eyed, floaty place within minutes.
Want to see how it feels first? Add a 15-minute lymphatic enhancement to any massage, or book a full lymphatic session on its own.

FAQ
-
It depends on your goal. For ongoing swelling or surgical recovery, a series of sessions usually serves you better than a single visit, and your surgeon may recommend a schedule. We'll suggest a rhythm at your first appointment, and our lymphatic packages make staying consistent easier.
-
Lymphatic drainage uses lighter pressure to move fluid, while a regular massage uses firmer pressure to release muscle tension. One works the layer just under your skin, and the other works your muscles. Both can be relaxing, but they serve different goals.
-
Your surgeon sets your timeline. Many post-op protocols start between a few days and two weeks after surgery, depending on the procedure, and always with surgeon approval.
-
Check with your doctor first if you have a blood clot or deep vein thrombosis, an infection such as cellulitis, heart disease, kidney failure or a history of stroke. If you're not sure, ask before you book.
-
Yes. We have a 15-minute lymphatic enhancement that focuses on the head, neck, and chest that you can add to any regular massage.
